Actress Ridhika Ridhi has been found dead at a residence in the capital.
She was found unresponsive at her home around 6 a.m. Saturday. She was taken to Kurmitola General Hospital, where doctors declared her dead. Bhatara Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mazharul Islam confirmed the death to media. Police’s preliminary assessment is that the death may have been a suicide.
An investigation and legal process are underway to confirm the exact cause of death.
Bhatara OC Mazharul Islam said Ridhi was found at a home in the Bashundhara residential area around 6 a.m. Saturday. Police went to the scene after being alerted and took her to Kurmitola General Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
Mazharul Islam said: “We received the report and went to Kurmitola Hospital, where we found the body. Her mother and other family members are currently at the police station. According to information provided by the family, Ridhi was in a relationship with someone. Early this morning, the two had an argument during a video call. At some point during the call, Ridhi is believed to have taken her own life. Based on the family’s complaint, we are opening a case.”
Police said the incident is under investigation, with information also being gathered from Ridhi’s family. The nature of her relationship with the individual involved, and what transpired between them before her death, are also part of the inquiry.
Alongside modeling, Ridhi appeared in several television dramas, including “Ekhane Manush Bikroy Hoy,” “Bohurupi,” “Double Honeymoon,” and “Sundori.”
