Muhammad Kader Gani Chowdhury has been appointed managing director (MD) and editor-in-chief of the Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), the national news agency. He succeeds Kamal Uddin Sabuj.
The Public Administration Ministry issued a notification appointing Kader Gani to the post on Thursday, August 27.
The appointment was made under Section 10(1) of the Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha Act, 2018. The notification states he will hold the post for a one-year term from the date he takes office.
Under the terms of his appointment, Kader Gani Chowdhury must sever ties with any other profession, business, or working relationship with any government, semi-government or private institution or organization. Other terms of his appointment will be set out in a contract.
Kader Gani is secretary general of the Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ).
Kamal Uddin Sabuj had earlier been appointed managing director and editor-in-chief of the Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) on April 7 this year.
