Banned Chhatra League holds procession in front of police commissioner’s office

Members of Chhatra League, a banned organization, staged a procession in front of the police commissioner’s office in Damparha, Chattogram.

Chhatra League members marched in front of the Damparha Police Lines in the city during Friday prayers today.

The procession’s banner read: “Preparing for the return of Desh Ratna Sheikh Hasina — Bangladesh Chhatra League, Chattogram Metropolitan.” Between 20 and 25 young men took part in the march.

The Police Lines houses the offices of key officials, including the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) commissioner. The police commissioner occasionally sits at the Damparha Police Lines office in addition to the newly built building at Laldighir Par.

Chakbazar police station Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Md. Nur Hossain Mamun said the group marched for about five seconds. No one has been detained yet, he said, but efforts are underway.
