Two friends were killed in a motorcycle accident in Kurigram after going out following their exams. The accident occurred around 11 p.m. Sunday, August 30, in the Sadar upazila’s Pateshwari Bazar area. Kurigram Sadar police station officer-in-charge Kamal Hossain confirmed the information.
The dead were identified as Hira Mia, 28, son of Motaleb Mia of Jhakuabari village in Nageshwari upazila’s Bhitorbondo union, and Sofiur Rahman Shuvo, 23, son of Mizanur Rahman Manju of Purba Manoshwar village in Rajarhat upazila’s Bidyananda union.
Citing the victims’ relatives, OC Kamal said Hira, Sofiur and seven other friends had gone out on three motorcycles after finishing a college exam. While returning home at night, two of the motorcycles collided in the Pateshwari Bazar area, injuring several of them.
He said the injured were taken to Kurigram General Hospital, where doctors, finding Hira and Sofiur’s condition critical, advised taking them to Rangpur. Hira died after being taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital, while Sofiur was taken to Doctors Clinic, where he was declared dead.
