Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has held a protest march in Feni against the rise in fuel prices, the rising prices of daily essentials and the deterioration of law and order.
The march on Friday afternoon (September 25) was led by Mufti Abdul Hannan, a member of Jamaat’s central Majlis-e-Shura and the district amir.
It began at the town’s Boro Jame Masjid, went around Trunk Road and ended with a short rally in front of the press club.
Present were district Jamaat secretary Mohammad Abdur Rahim, assistant secretary and publicity secretary Advocate Jamal Uddin, town amir Engineer Nazrul Islam and Chhatra Shibir town secretary Enamul Haque, among others.
“The price of oil has been raised by Tk 20 a litre. Fuel prices must immediately be brought within people’s purchasing power,” Mufti Abdul Hannan said. “A deadlock has been created across the country today. Law and order has deteriorated to its worst level in Bangladesh’s history. The government must take swift steps immediately to improve law and order. If it fails, the home minister must resign at once. He is a failed home minister.”
