PANCHAGARH, Sept. 26 — A housewife named Alefa Begum, 48, died from electrocution in Debiganj, Panchagarh.
The incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. Saturday in Sonahar Shahapara village of the upazila.
Alefa was the wife of Azizul Islam of the village.
Local and family sources said Alefa went to turn on an electric motor beside a tube well inside the house in the morning to draw water. She accidentally touched an electric line and was electrocuted. She was seriously injured and fell to the ground.
Family members later rescued her and took her to the upazila health complex, where the duty doctor declared her dead after examination.
Debiganj Police Station Inspector for Investigation Prabir Kumar Sarkar said the body was handed over to the family after an inquest.
