DSE index falls as turnover rises to Tk 746 crore

Most share prices fell on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the country’s main bourse, on the first trading day of the week. The benchmark DSEX index fell 6.75 points to 5,525.86.

The DS30 index fell 1.31 points to 2,097.94, and the DSES index fell 3.12 points to 1,100.18.

A total of 234,770,459 shares and units of 394 companies and mutual funds changed hands in 195,699 trades. Of them, 125 gained, 224 declined and 45 were unchanged. Turnover stood at Tk 7,464,687,969, about Tk 746.47 crore, and market capitalisation at about Tk 6.88 lakh crore.

In the A category, 79 of 202 companies gained, 109 declined and 14 were unchanged. In the B category, 20 of 74 gained, 50 declined and four were unchanged. In the Z category, 26 of 118 gained, 65 declined and 27 were unchanged. Of 33 mutual funds, three gained, 28 declined and two were unchanged.

Of four corporate bonds traded, two gained and two declined. All seven government securities traded fell.
