Speculation over U.S. President Donald Trump and his close aide Natalie Harp shows no sign of dying down. Two letters Harp wrote to Trump have now been leaked.
In a letter published Thursday, August 21, Harp wrote: “I want everything between us to always be OK.” The letter was typed and printed, with a signature at the end.
The letter opened with “Dear Mr. President” and closed with “With all my heart, Natalie.” Parts of the letter had previously been published by The New York Times. Harp’s near-constant presence at Trump’s side drew fresh attention this week after Democratic Senator Jon Ossoff criticized Trump in a speech, naming Harp specifically.
He also highlighted Natalie’s travel with Trump aboard an aircraft given by the Emir of Qatar. Earlier, in July, when Trump secretly returned from Turkey on a small aircraft because of a threat from Iran, Harp was among the limited number of aides who accompanied him.
According to a Daily Beast report, in a 2023 letter, Harp wrote to Trump: “I never want to give you anything but joy. I’m sorry I lost my focus. You are everything to me. I never want to let you down. Thank you for being my guardian and protector in this life.”
In another letter, Harp recalled her earlier relationship with Trump, from when she was a host at the conservative outlet One America News Network.
She wrote: “You’d call while I was doing my talk show — I miss those days. We’d talk about everything and nothing. I want to get that understanding back. It’s not like we always have to talk only about work!”
In the letter, Harp also wrote: “And when I make a mistake, please tell me. You have every right to scold me if you need to, because no one knows or thinks about me the way you do.”
The Daily Beast reported that author Michael Wolff obtained these letters while writing a book about Trump’s 2024 election campaign. White House spokesman Davis Ingle, defending Harp in a statement to CNN, said she is one of the most loyal and hard-working members of President Trump’s team.
However, White House officials have privately acknowledged in recent times that the intense criticism surrounding Harp has drawn more public attention to her relationship with Trump.
Most recently, on Friday, as Trump departed the White House for South Carolina, Harp was seen boarding Marine One alongside other aides.
