Four drug dealers arrested in Chaugachha with cannabis, yaba tablets

Police in Chaugachha, Jashore, have arrested four drug dealers and seized 800 grams of cannabis and 72 yaba tablets. They were sent to court on Monday, August 24.

According to police sources, Sub-Inspector Belal Hossain of Chaugachha police station carried out an operation Monday in the Belon-Bil area near a fish enclosure belonging to a man identified as Nurujjaman, in Madhabpur village, Swarupdaha union, in the upazila. Police arrested a young man, Imran Hossain, 32, and later recovered 800 grams of cannabis from him. Imran Hossain, who is from Dighori village in Swarupdaha union, is the son of the late Muktar Hossain. A case has been filed against him at Chaugachha police station under the Narcotics Control Act.

Earlier that night, police led by Sub-Inspector Salimul Haque carried out an operation in the Bakultala area on Jagannathpur road, Singhajhuli union. Police arrested Fahim Hossain, alias Abu Taleb, 27, and recovered 29 yaba tablets after searching him. Fahim Hossain, of Jagannathpur village, is the son of Abdul Khalek. A separate case was filed against him at Chaugachha police station under the Narcotics Control Act.

Acting on a tip, Sub-Inspector Hossain Patwari led another operation in the Kutipara Mor area of the municipal town. Police arrested Sohan Hossain Dayal, 22, of North Para, Patibila village, Patibila union, son of Tahajjel Biswas, and Nahid Hasan, 30, of Kuthipara village in the municipal town, son of Shafiqul Islam. Police recovered 43 yaba tablets from them. A case was filed against both under the Narcotics Control Act.

Mamunur Rashid, officer-in-charge of Chaugachha police station, said: “Three separate drug cases have been filed against the arrested individuals under the Narcotics Control Act. They were sent to court on Monday. Police operations against drugs and crime will continue.”
