Five children have died after drowning while bathing in the Mora Pagla River in the Char Chakla area of Debinagar union, Chapainawabganj Sadar upazila.
The accident occurred Friday, August 28, around noon. Chapainawabganj Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (in-charge) Ekramul Hossain confirmed the information. He said the identities of the deceased children could not be disclosed as of this report.
OC Ekramul Hossain said several children went to bathe in the Mora Pagla River in the Char Chakla area of Ward 3, Debinagar union, around 1 p.m. Friday. During the swim, five of the children drowned. Local residents later searched the river and recovered the bodies of all five children, one by one.
He said all five deceased children were residents of the Char Chakla area.
He added that police had been dispatched to the scene after the incident was reported.
