A man with a mental disability, Md Tabibur Rahman, 45, was killed in a machete attack by his uncle and cousin following a family dispute in Kotchandpur, Jhenaidah.
The incident occurred Sunday morning, August 23, in Mallikpur village, Dora union, in the upazila. The victim, Tabibur Rahman, was the son of Nabi Chhoddin Mondol of the same village.
Local residents said that around 6 a.m., Tabibur Rahman assaulted his aunt, Hasina Begum. Angered by the incident, Hasina Begum’s husband, Ujir Mondol, 55, and his relative Shakil, 32, struck Tabibur Rahman with a machete. He died at the scene from his injuries.
Police reached the scene around 7:30 a.m. after receiving the news, recovered the body and brought the situation under control. Police then began the necessary legal process.
The accused, Ujir Mondol, is the son of Mereb Mondol of Mallikpur village, and Shakil is the son of Gafur Mondol of the same village.
The incident has caused a stir in the area. Police have launched an investigation to determine the actual cause of the incident, and say legal action will follow once the investigation is complete.
