DHAKA — A list of 77,227 vacant teaching positions in private, MPO-listed institutions across Bangladesh has been compiled, Education Minister A.N.M. Ehsanul Haque Milon said Thursday. The vacancies will be filled soon through a recruitment notice, he said.
The minister provided the figures during the question-and-answer session in Parliament in response to a question from Moinul Islam Khan, the member representing Manikganj-2. Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed presided.
“To fill the vacant teaching positions in private educational institutions, a list of 77,227 vacancies has been compiled across the country through an e-requisition process,” Milon said. “The Non-Government Teachers’ Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA) will issue a recruitment notice soon. The positions will be filled in phases through qualified candidates.”
Responding to a question from Abul Kalam, the member for Cumilla-9, the minister said that although educational activities had been somewhat disrupted by recent unrest, the current government had taken a range of steps to restore order, stability, and quality in the country’s education system.
In response to a question from Abdul Alim, the member for Bagerhat-4, the minister said that there are currently 8,229 MPO-listed madrasas and 1,923 BM colleges.
