The way the BNP is now trying to obstruct, resist and “throttle” the National Citizen Party (NCP) is like a “brainless Awami League,” NCP northern chief organizer Sarjis Alam has said. “They at least had that much; these people can’t even show that much,” he said.
He made the remarks while speaking with reporters at the Sylhet Circuit House on Friday afternoon.
On a recent case in Habiganj, Sarjis Alam said the BNP was behaving in a way that resembled Awami League politics by obstructing the NCP’s political programs, and that the NCP was being deliberately obstructed to suppress it politically.
“We heard a snatching case had been filed against us. Actually a snatching did happen — of Tareque Rahman’s and the BNP’s honor, and they did it through their own actions,” he said, adding that those who had carried it out in the name of the Chhatra Dal had made themselves a laughing stock.
Sarjis Alam is among those named in a case filed over an attack on NCP leaders in Habiganj; the allegations have not been tested in court.
