This year, the timeline for class eleven admission applications and the start of classes is being moved up. Online applications for admission to class eleven will open on September 2 and continue through September 10. Education boards have proposed completing the admission process and beginning classes on September 23.
As in previous years, students will be admitted based on their results in the SSC and equivalent examinations; there will be no separate admission test.
The application process will be conducted centrally online, with admissions based on merit and preference order. Education board sources confirmed this information to the media.
The education board said the results of re-evaluation requests for this year’s SSC and equivalent examinations will be published on September 10. Students whose results change after re-evaluation, or who were unable to apply in the first round, will get the opportunity to apply for college admission on September 12 and 13.
Results for this round of admissions will be published between September 14 and 19.
After verifying the results of selected candidates, the admission process will begin between September 20 and 22. Classes for class eleven will begin on September 23.
The results of the SSC and equivalent examinations were published on August 10. A total of 1,829,485 candidates sat for the SSC and equivalent examinations across 11 education boards this year. Of these, 1,138,877 candidates passed. Nearly 700,000 candidates failed to pass. As a result, more than half of the available seats will remain empty this year.
There are roughly 2.5 million admission-eligible seats for class eleven (colleges and madrasahs) nationwide. Last year, 58.7 percent of total seats were filled, leaving 41.3 percent empty. The pass rate has fallen further this year, meaning even more seats will remain vacant.
However, even though seats overall remain empty, many students who received a GPA-5 will still be unable to get into their desired institution, because comparatively better institutions have fewer seats. More than 116,000 students received a GPA-5 across the 11 education boards this year. Of these, 106,009 students received a GPA-5 under the nine general education boards.
