Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon has said the day’s ECNEC meeting discussed the project for paying madrasa teachers’ salaries by EFT, including previously stuck bills, as well as bills for multimedia classrooms. He said this on Tuesday (9 June) at the Secretariat in reply to a question from Dainik Shiksha.
On vice-chancellor appointments at universities, the education minister said: “I see no problem. We are doing everything with due consideration. Tell me something specific and we will look into it.”
The minister dismissed reports that Bangla could be dropped: “Bangla is our mother tongue — can it be dropped? No such discussion has taken place, and not to my knowledge. I do not know where this news came from. We are giving importance to technical education. We discussed subjects with market demand. But that Bangla, philosophy or history would be dropped — we have heard no such discussion anywhere, nor held one. We are introducing regular courses according to market demand at every university. But dropping Bangla or history — no such thing has been said anywhere.”
