Farmer’s body recovered from Almdanga field

Police have recovered the injured body of a farmer, Hasem Ali, 55, from a field in Chuadanga’s Almdanga upazila. His body being recovered a day after he went missing while going to apply fertiliser has caused a stir in the area.

The body was recovered at about 11 a.m. on Friday, July 24, from the Katakhali field in the Usmanpur Bishwaspara area of Hardi union in the upazila.

Hasem Ali was the son of the late Rostom Mondol of Usmanpur Bishwaspara.

According to family sources, Hasem Ali left home on Thursday afternoon, July 23, to apply fertiliser to his farmland. When he did not return home at night, family members began searching in various places.

On Friday morning locals saw his injured body lying in the Katakhali field and informed police. Almdanga police then went to the scene, recovered the body and sent it to the morgue of Chuadanga Sadar Hospital for a post-mortem.

The officer-in-charge (OC) of Almdanga police station, Bani Israil, confirmed the incident and said the real cause of death had not yet been confirmed. The matter is being investigated with importance, he said. Further legal steps will be taken on the basis of the post-mortem report and the findings of the investigation.
