Eight held with drugs in separate Alamdanga raids

Police have arrested eight accused in various cases, including drug cases, in special raids in Alamdanga, Chuadanga. They were held in separate raids at different places in the upazila in the pre-dawn and morning hours of Monday, 10 August. According to police, a team led by Alamdanga police sub-inspector (SI) S M Niyamul Haque raided the broken bridge at Jamal’s in Srirampur on secret intelligence and detained Rabiul Islam (36) with 100 Tapentadol tablets. Rabiul is the son of the late Nabiran Begum and Kurban Mistri of Bakshipur village in Alamdanga; a case has been filed against him under the Narcotics Control Act.

In another raid, Hapania police camp SI Md Morshed Ali arrested Md Shariful Islam (35) with five grams of cannabis in front of the cattle market at Gokulkhali Bazar; Shariful is the son of the late Anwar Hossain of Gopinathpur Khalpara in Damurhuda. Police also arrested drug-case accused Md Abu Jafar Bappa (37) of Courtpara and assault-case accused Md Ibrahim Hossain (22) of Jehala Daipara. In separate raids they also held four warrant-listed accused: Md Shaker Ali of Kumari Masterpara, Md Amirul Islam of Natidanga, Md Roni Malitha (21) of Anandadham, and Paresh Kumar Das of the same area. Alamdanga OC Bani Israil said the arrested accused had been sent to jail through the court, and that police operations to root out drugs and crime in the area would continue.
