A gazette for 46 candidates who were left out despite being recommended by the Public Service Commission (PSC) in the 49th BCS will be published on Monday (October 5), Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said at a press briefing at his office on Thursday afternoon (October 1).
Saying there had been no discrimination, the home minister said the PSC passed 665 candidates, of whom eight failed the medical test, leaving 657. No one was discriminated against for their political identity, and notifications are issued in several phases, he said.
One candidate had threatened suicide and is a member of a banned party, he said, adding that any allegation against anyone is investigated.
On reserved-seat MP Ferdousi Ahmed Mishti, the minister said action would be taken against her under the law and also by the party.
On the eviction of hawkers from roads in the capital, he said hawkers must come under discipline. The drive was carried out with citizens’ problems in mind and was not meant to leave anyone jobless. “We are treating crime as crime. Wherever a crime happens, action will be taken,” he said.
