Bangladesh received $1.499 billion in remittances in the first 12 days of August, according to the latest Bangladesh Bank data. The same period last year brought $1.054 billion, so inflows rose 42.2 percent.
From July, the first month of fiscal year 2026-27, through August 12, the country received $4.358 billion, compared with $3.532 billion in the same period last year, an increase of 23.4 percent. Expatriates sent $111 million on August 12 alone. Officials say the continuing positive flow through legal channels is helping foreign-exchange reserves and the balance of payments.
