Brazilian journalist and geopolitical analyst Pepe Escobar claimed that Pakistan’s military intelligence foiled a Mossad-backed assassination plot targeting army chief Field Marshal Asim Munir during a peace conference in Switzerland. The claim has not been independently verified.
Escobar made the assertion on social media platform X during a conversation with Lebanese-Australian political commentator Mario Nawfal. He alleged that Pakistan’s military intelligence received what it considered highly reliable information that, on the orders of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Mossad was preparing an operation targeting Munir and possibly other members of the Pakistani delegation.
Quoting what he described as his own sources, Escobar said: “The bottom line is — Pakistani military intelligence got very reliable intelligence that, on Netanyahu’s orders, Mossad was preparing a hit operation against Asim Munir and possibly the rest of the Pakistani delegation going to Switzerland. So the Pakistanis sent a message through their usual intermediary Oman to the Israelis. The message was: ‘If you touch our delegation, we will wipe you off the map.’ That’s it.”
Escobar said Pakistan’s bold warning caused Mossad to abandon the plan, which he argued helped preserve regional stability. He did not disclose the provenance of his sources. BD Global Times and other independent outlets have not been able to verify the claims.
