Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized Indian goods worth 7.3 million taka in operations along various border points in Sylhet.
The operations were carried out Tuesday, August 25, in border areas under the Sylhet Battalion (48 BGB).
BGB said that, acting on intelligence, operations were carried out at the Kalairag, Protappur, Sangram, Domdomia and Sonarhat border outposts (BOPs), seizing large quantities of Indian medicine, cattle, saris, chocolate, bidi cigarettes, betel nut, vegetables and beer.
The estimated value of the seized goods is 7,317,000 taka.
Lt. Col. Md Nazmul Haque, commanding officer of the Sylhet Battalion (48 BGB), said: “BGB’s operational activities and intelligence efforts to protect border security and prevent smuggling and drug trafficking remain fully ongoing. As part of that continued effort, operations were carried out in border areas, seizing a large volume of smuggled goods. The necessary action against the seized smuggled goods will be taken in accordance with regulations.”
