Opposition Leader in Parliament and Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman visited the Radda MCH-FP Center in Mirpur, Dhaka, which was damaged in an attack, vandalism and looting. He announced a donation of Tk 50 lakh to restore the health center.
The information was provided Monday, Sept. 28, in a message sent by Md. Ataur Rahman Sarkar, publicity and media secretary of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka Metropolitan North.
After visiting the damaged health center, the Jamaat ameer said, “Our initially announced assistance will continue, inshallah. This is the beginning, not the end.” Saying Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami had decided to donate Tk 50 lakh to restore the Radda MCH-FP Center, Shafiqur Rahman said more assistance would be provided if needed to ensure healthcare for people in the area.
Expressing concern over the attack, vandalism and looting at the health center, the Jamaat ameer said no one would dare commit such a major offense without shelter and patronage from the ruling party. Whoever the offender is should be brought under the law, he said.
Expressing concern over the deterioration of law and order in the country, he said the government must take immediate steps so no miscreant can commit antisocial or criminal acts anywhere in the country.
He also said mob violence is taking place across the country under the shelter and patronage of the ruling party.
He called for legal action against those involved in the Radda incident and for steps to reopen the health center.
Those present included Jamaat central executive council member and Dhaka metropolitan secretary Dr. Muhammad Rezaul Karim, central working council member and metropolitan assistant secretary Mahfuzur Rahman, central majlis-e-shura member and metropolitan assistant secretary Dr. Fakhruddin Manik, central majlis-e-shura member and metropolitan publicity and media secretary Ataur Rahman Sarkar, and metropolitan working council members Nasir Uddin, Shah Alam Tuhin, Dr. Moinuddin, G.M. Hafizur Rahman and Monirul Islam Mridha, among others.
