BGB seizes 67 bottles of Indian liquor in Sherpur

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized 67 bottles of Indian liquor in a special operation at Nalitabari in Sherpur.

The operation was carried out on Saturday (September 19) in the Kalakuma area of the upazila.

BGB sources said the special operation was conducted on Saturday morning at a place called Kalakuma in Nalitabari upazila, as part of a continuing anti-narcotics drive. The 67 bottles of Indian liquor were recovered abandoned, with an estimated seizure value of one lakh taka.

BGB said it follows a zero-tolerance policy on eliminating narcotics, and that its members remain alert around the clock on the international border in Mymensingh and Sherpur districts to prevent illegal activity.

A press release from 39 BGB Mymensingh said the force’s strict operations against narcotics, smuggled goods and illegal crossings at the border would continue.
