The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has announced its squad for the three-match T20 series against India, naming Ibrahim Zadran as captain.
Pace bowler Naveen-ul-Haq has been recalled to the squad. He had been out of action for several months with a right shoulder injury and missed the last T20 World Cup. The squad also includes pacers Fazalhaq Farooqi and Abdullah Ahmadzai, along with all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai.
Experienced all-rounder Gulbadin Naib has also been recalled. Regular squad members including Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, Noor Ahmad and Nangeyalia Kharote are also traveling to India. Rahmanullah Gurbaz is the squad’s first-choice wicketkeeper, with Noor Rahman as the second option.
ACB CEO Naseeb Khan said the squad was selected to be balanced, with efforts made to maintain balance across batting and bowling, spin and pace, and experience and youth.
All matches in the India-Afghanistan T20 series will be played at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium, on September 13, 15 and 17.
