Outgoing navy chief calls on prime minister

Outgoing navy chief Admiral M Nazmul Hasan has called on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. The meeting took place on Wednesday afternoon at the Prime Minister’s Office at the Secretariat in the capital. Talks covered protecting the country’s sovereignty, maritime security, naval modernization and various important matters of national interest.

The prime minister praised the outgoing navy chief’s career success, and his farsighted leadership and contribution to modernizing the Bangladesh Navy, boosting its capabilities and strengthening it as a professional force.

The outgoing navy chief thanked the prime minister for his overall cooperation, guidance and sincere support. The prime minister later hosted him for lunch.

M Nazmul Hasan took charge as navy chief on July 24, 2023. He was commissioned on July 1, 1986. Over a long and eventful career he held various staff, instructional and command roles, including assistant chief of naval staff (operations), assistant chief of naval staff (personnel), director of naval operations and naval intelligence, director general of the civil-military liaison directorate in the Armed Forces Division, and commander of four warships including the training warship BNS Umar Farooq.
