An auto-rickshaw driver named Md Borhan Uddin, also known as Ripon, 28, has died after being electrocuted while charging his auto-rickshaw in Noakhali Sadar.
The incident happened on Monday (September 21) night at Horon Mia’s rickshaw garage, by Khalil Mia’s door in Purba Char Uriya village of Noakhali union in the upazila.
Ripon was the son of Md Milon of that village. He worked as an auto-rickshaw driver.
Police said Ripon was charging his own auto-rickshaw after returning to the garage at night, having driven all day. He was seriously injured after being electrocuted through a moment’s carelessness. Local people then rescued him and took him to the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital, where a doctor declared him dead.
Sub-inspector Kaucharuzzaman, in charge of Sonapur police outpost, said: “On receiving the news, police went to the scene and prepared the inquest report on the body. An unnatural death case has been filed over the incident. As the family had no complaint, the body was handed over to them.”
