Nightguards tied up as robbers loot four shops in Pangsha, 2.1 million taka stolen

A robbery occurred in Pangsha, Rajbari, in which a nightguard’s hands and mouth were tied before robbers looted three jewelry shops and a pharmacy.

The incident occurred between 3 and 4 a.m. Monday, August 17, at the Rafiq Uddin Shopping Complex in Hat Bangram Bazar, Kalimohar union, in the upazila.

Shop owners and local residents said a masked gang of eight to ten robbers tied up the hands and mouths of two nightguards, Kalu and Zakir, who were responsible for the market’s security. They then broke the locks on the shops and fled with gold, silver, nose pins, and cash.

Shop owners claim roughly 2.125 million taka worth of goods were looted from the four establishments. This includes roughly 660,000 taka from Guarantee Jewellers, 215,000 taka from Susmita Jewellers, and roughly 1.1 million taka worth of gold and silver from Lakshmi Jewellers. Additionally, 150,000 taka in cash was reportedly taken from Rahul Pharmacy.

Police inspected the scene after being alerted. Pangsha Model Police Station OC Sheikh Moinul Islam said one suspicious individual has been detained and is being questioned in connection with the incident. No written complaint has been received yet, and the matter is under investigation.
