Nine people, including two children, were killed and 25 others injured when a goods train collided with a bus in southern Zimbabwe. The accident happened on Tuesday (June 16).

Andrew Kunambura, a spokesman for the National Railways of Zimbabwe, told reporters: “The collision happened on the Mbizi Road in Triangle, in Chiredzi district.”

Paul Nyathi, a spokesman for Zimbabwe’s national police, said seven of those killed were adults and two were children. The injured were taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police were still investigating, he said, and more detailed information would be available soon.

Earlier, seven people were killed when a minibus carrying schoolchildren caught fire in central Zimbabwe. This accident came less than a week after that.
