Iran’s military has warned the United States and Israel against any military action during the funeral and burial of the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Commander Ali Abdullahi of the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters said in a statement broadcast on Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting: “We call on Iran’s enemies, particularly the United States and Israel, to refrain from any miscalculation. Any threat or aggression against Iran will be met with a severe response from the armed forces.”

According to official announcements, funeral ceremonies for Khamenei will begin on July 4 in the capital Tehran. Memorial services will follow in Qom and Iraq before the burial is completed on July 9 in Mashhad, his birthplace.

Khamenei, 86, was killed on February 28 in a US-Israeli strike on Tehran. He assumed the role of supreme leader in 1989 following the death of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini and led the country for more than three decades.
