Free seeds and fertilizer distributed to 1,400 farmers in Kishoreganj

Free seeds and fertilizer were distributed to 1,400 smallholder and marginal farmers in Kuliarchar upazila, Kishoreganj, under the government’s 2025-26 fiscal year agricultural incentive program.

State Minister for Textiles and Jute Md. Shariful Alam, who is also the member of parliament for Kishoreganj-6 (Bhairab-Kuliarchar), inaugurated the program at the upazila council conference hall on Monday afternoon (July 6).

Under the scheme, 1,300 farmers each received 5 kg of transplanted aman rice seeds, 10 kg of DAP fertilizer, and 10 kg of MOP fertilizer. A further 100 farmers each received 10 grams of hybrid chili seeds, 5 kg of DAP, 5 kg of MOP, and a packet of pesticide. Additionally, 1,000 farmers each received a master packet of summer vegetable seeds with 15 kg of DAP and 15 kg of MOP.

The state minister also distributed cash and checks from his discretionary fund and the Ministry of Social Welfare, along with checks from the Bangladesh Rural Development Board.

Earlier in the day, Alam laid the foundation stone for a road in Kuliarchar municipality and inaugurated a new building at Kuliarchar Technical School and College. He also participated in a National Rural Development Day 2026 rally organized by the upazila administration and the Bangladesh Rural Development Board.
