Brigadier General Mohebbi, spokesperson for Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), said the Strait of Hormuz will not be reopened under any circumstances unless the United States accepts Iran’s terms.

Asked about the latest situation in the Strait of Hormuz, he said the strait remains under Iran’s control and that no hostile military vessels are present in the Persian Gulf.

The IRGC spokesperson said all hostile warships have withdrawn at least 400 kilometers from the Strait of Hormuz. He said that, from a military and regional standpoint, no vessel can cross the waterway without Iran’s permission and control. The claim could not be independently verified.

He added that the nearby waterway close to Oman is also entirely under the control of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Mohebbi said the Strait of Hormuz belongs to Iran and, on the opposite side, Oman. He said talks with Oman began about a month ago, and that both sides have reached an understanding on some points acceptable to each.

He said those talks also produced an understanding on each country’s share of the strait’s territorial waters and on how the two countries would share revenue derived from it.

The IRGC spokesperson alleged that the United States is obstructing this process, which he said has delayed progress.

He warned that unless the United States accepts Iran’s terms, the Strait of Hormuz will not be reopened under any circumstances.
