A total of 2,506 farmers in Atrai upazila, Naogaon, received free agriculture inputs under the 2025-26 agriculture incentive program. The upazila agriculture office inaugurated the distribution ceremony on Sunday (July 6) at the upazila auditorium hall.
Registered farmers received high-yield transplant amon rice seeds, hybrid chili seeds, summer vegetables, lemon saplings, summer onion seeds (N-53 variety), DAP and MOP chemical fertilizer, organic cow-dung fertilizer, and pesticides. Air flow machines for onion preservation and tree-planting saplings with bamboo poles and organic fertilizer will also be distributed in phases.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Prosenjit Talukdar said the government is farmer-friendly. “To reduce production costs and increase yields, we have selected 2,506 farmers this fiscal year — 1,800 for high-yield transplant amon, 230 for summer onion, and 400 for tree-planting programs. This year, farmers are also receiving free modern air flow machines, which will play a significant role in onion preservation and reducing spoilage at the field level,” he said.
