The body of a young man named Mizanur Rahman, 25, has been recovered from a pond in Madan upazila, Netrokona. It was recovered on Thursday afternoon from a pond in the Baishyapara area of the municipality.
Mizanur Rahman was the son of Rokon Mia, a resident of ward 7 of the municipality.
Sources said local people saw the body floating in the pond on Thursday afternoon and informed the police station, and police took it away. The cause of death is not known. Local people said Mizan was addicted to drugs, and many believe he may have fallen into the pond while intoxicated.
Madan police station officer-in-charge Salahuddin Karim said the body of a man named Mizanur Rahman was recovered from the pond after police were informed. It was sent to the morgue of Netrokona Sadar Hospital for a post-mortem examination after an inquest report, and the cause of death may be known when the post-mortem report comes.
