TANGAIL — A court has sent Shibli Sadiq, general secretary of the banned Awami League’s Delduar upazila unit in Tangail, to jail in a case stemming from the anti-discrimination protests.
Senior Judicial Sadar Thana Amli Court Judge Rumeliya Sirajam ordered him jailed on Tuesday afternoon.
Police arrested him from his home on Dhaka Road in Tangail town on Monday night.
Ruhul Amin, officer-in-charge of Tangail Sadar Police Station, said Sadiq was arrested Monday night based on confidential information. Multiple anti-discrimination protest cases have been filed against him. No remand was sought for questioning. He was sent to jail through the court on Tuesday afternoon.
