RAIPURA — Ramadan food aid was distributed to 200 orphan students in Narsingdi’s Raipura upazila on behalf of the people of Turkey, organizers said. The Orphan Love Foundation organized the distribution Tuesday in keeping with the sanctity of Ramadan and a sense of humanitarian responsibility.
The food packages, distributed at the grounds of Sirajnagar Ummul Qura Madrasa in Raipura upazila, included rice, oil, lentils, sugar, chickpeas, flour, dates and biscuits.
Abdulkadir Bayram, deputy country coordinator of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), was the chief guest. “This is a small gift of love to the people of Bangladesh from the people of Turkey,” he said.
Aminul Ihsan Islam, head of the orphan department at the Orphan Love Foundation, expressed gratitude on behalf of the orphan students. Local dignitaries were also present at the event, organizers said.
The Orphan Love Foundation (www.orphan.love) is a government-approved non-governmental, non-profit organization that provides education, health care, nutrition, protection and long-term development assistance to orphan and at-risk children in Bangladesh.
