NILPHAMARI — A mobile court fined a trader 20,000 taka for illegally storing and selling fuel oil in Jaldhaka upazila of Nilphamari district, officials said.
The court, led by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Zayed Imrul Mozakkin, fined trader Ataur Rahman after raiding the Saltitala area of Paschim Shimulbari in Mirganj union late Tuesday. Police and members of the Rapid Action Battalion assisted in the operation.
Mobile court sources said Rahman had been illegally storing and selling oil for a long time. Acting on a tip, officers raided his premises late Monday and confirmed the activity, leading to the 20,000-taka fine. Officials seized 55 liters of fuel and sold it.
Mozakkin said the raid was carried out based on confidential information, leading to the fine, and that 50 liters of diesel and 5 liters of petrol were seized and sold.
