TEHRAN — The Israel Defense Forces on Tuesday warned residents of Iran not to travel by train.

In a message posted on the military’s Persian-language social media account, the IDF urged Iranians “for their own safety” to avoid using or traveling on trains across the country “until 9 p.m. Iran time.” It added: “Being on trains and near rail lines will put lives at risk.”

The warning came as US President Donald Trump threatened to strike Iran’s civilian infrastructure if the Iranian leadership does not allow free passage through the Strait of Hormuz by 8 p.m. US Eastern Time on Tuesday, or 1 a.m. UK time Wednesday.

In overnight updates, the Israeli military said it had completed a phase of extensive air strikes targeting “infrastructure” in Tehran linked to the leadership and had killed several people it described as Hezbollah members.

Separately, the military said it had intercepted some Iranian missiles fired toward Israel.
