TEHRAN — Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said more than 14 million Iranians are prepared to sacrifice their lives to defend the country. He made the comment in a message posted on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.
“I have given my life for Iran, I am giving it, and I will continue to give it in the future,” Pezeshkian said, making his position clear.
Since the war began on Feb. 28, Israel has carried out targeted killings of several senior Iranian leaders, including former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and Ali Larijani, the powerful secretary of the Supreme National Security Council.
According to government figures, at least 2,076 people have been killed and 26,500 wounded in Iran since the war began.
