DHAKA — Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah, the former vice chancellor of Begum Rokeya University, has been arrested.
A team from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Detective Branch arrested him from the Mohammadpur area of the capital on Thursday at the request of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Mohammad Nasirul Islam, joint commissioner of the DB (south) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, confirmed the arrest to reporters.
“The ACC had issued a requisition in a case it is investigating on corruption charges,” Islam said. “Acting on it, our detective operation led to his arrest from his Mohammadpur residence. The process of handing him over to the ACC is underway.”
