MYMENSINGH — The pass rate at the Mymensingh Education Board fell to 51.54% in this year’s higher secondary certificate (HSC) examinations, the lowest in four years, board chairman Professor Mohammad Shahidullah said Saturday. The number of students earning GPA-5 also dropped, while three institutions recorded a 100% pass rate and 15 institutions recorded none.

Shahidullah announced the results at a news conference at the Mymensingh Education Board.

According to the published results, 79,237 students from 306 institutions registered for this year’s HSC. Of those, 75,855 sat for the examinations and 39,096 passed, a rate of 51.54%. A total of 2,684 students earned GPA-5. The lowest pass rate across streams was in the business education stream.

The three institutions with a 100% pass rate were Mymensingh Girls’ Cadet College, Charjithar High School and College in the district’s Ishwarganj area, and Abdul Jabbar Rabeya Khatun Girls’ High School and College in Netrokona’s Khaliajuri upazila.

Fifteen institutions had no students pass. Of these, seven are in Mymensingh, two in Jamalpur, two in Sherpur and four in Netrokona. A total of 132 students sat for the examinations from these 15 institutions. More than 10 students sat from four of them; the remainder had between two and nine students each.

This year 2,648 students earned GPA-5, with the overall pass rate at 51.54%.
