Chandpur joint forces detain 12, including 7 teen gang members

CHANDPUR — A joint forces operation in Hajiganj in Chandpur detained 12 people, including seven members of a teenage gang, an Armed Police Battalion press release said Thursday morning.

Wednesday night, in the Torabganj Hamidia Jute Mill area of Hajiganj municipality, seven members of a known teen gang were arrested: Rabiul Ahmed, Mainuddin Khan, Billal Kazi, Kazi Palash, Hridoy Hossain and Shafiqul Islam.

Four knives, a Chinese cleaver and three locally made weapons were recovered from them. They were later handed over to Hajiganj police station for legal action.

In a separate operation, three people were detained while taking drugs in an abandoned building at the Hajiganj Upazila Health Complex. They were identified as Hiran, Rashed and Shafiul Alam. Separately, Shamim Hossain was detained with 20 yaba pills and Poli Begum with 50 yaba pills from the Torabganj area. They were handed over to Hajiganj police station for legal action.

Mohiuddin Faruk, the officer in charge of Hajiganj police station, said the detainees would be sent to a Chandpur court after separate cases were filed against them.
