NARSINGDI — Narsingdi’s Abdul Kadir Mollah City College has maintained its track record of strong results in this year’s Higher Secondary Certificate examinations.
Of the 1,663 students from the institution who sat for the Dhaka Education Board exams — results of which were published Thursday morning — 1,658 passed, with 696 earning GPA-5. The pass rate was 99.70 percent.
The college’s administrative office said Abdul Kadir Mollah City College placed second on the Dhaka Board for three consecutive years starting in 2012. While it has not appeared on the board’s list of top performers since 2015, it has maintained consistency in its results.
This year, 1,663 students sat for the higher secondary examinations and only five failed. Of the 696 who earned GPA-5, 480 came from the science group, where 1,141 students sat for the exam and three failed. In the business education group, 43 of 183 students earned GPA-5 and two failed. In the humanities group, 173 of 334 students earned GPA-5, with a 100 percent pass rate.
“We tried our best,” said Herem Ullah Ahsan, the principal of the college. “Under the direct guidance of our governing body chairman, Abdul Kadir Mollah, we worked hard alongside our students through regular classes, special classes, home visits, tutorials, monthly tests and round-the-clock supervision by guide teachers. This institution has never seen such results in its history. We will address the shortcomings of this year and, God willing, return to our past track record of success in the future.”
