DHAKA — The National Pay Commission will meet secretaries from various ministries at the Secretariat on Monday, Nov. 24, to discuss the salaries and allowances of government officials and employees.

National Pay Commission Chairman Zakir Ahmed Khan will chair the meeting, the commission said in a notice.

The meeting between the National Pay Commission and the secretaries of various ministries and divisions will aim to review existing salaries, allowances and other benefits for officials and employees of government, semi-government and autonomous institutions, state-owned banks, government-funded universities and state-run educational institutions, and to draft recommendations, the notice said.

Earlier, from Oct. 1 to Oct. 15, the commission collected public opinion online through questionnaires in four categories: ordinary citizens, government employees, autonomous institutions and government bodies, and associations or societies.

The National Pay Commission was formed on July 27. It aims to submit its final report in December.

Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed recently said a separate commission was working on the pay commission. He said three reports would need to be received, vetted and reviewed before the commission could be issued. The current government will create a framework, and the next government will implement it, he said.
