DHAKA — The National Board of Revenue has extended the deadline for individual taxpayers to file income tax returns for the 2025-26 tax year by one month, to Dec. 31, the agency said.

The NBR announced the extension in a notice on Sunday, Nov. 23.

The agency requested that taxpayers file their returns through the e-return system by Dec. 31, 2025. More than 1.8 million individual taxpayers have filed e-returns online so far this year, the NBR said in a press release.

The notice also said the NBR had issued a separate order allowing taxpayers who are unable to file online because of e-return system registration problems to apply to their respective tax commissioners with specific justification by Dec. 15, 2025.

Online filing has been made mandatory this year for all individual taxpayers except senior citizens aged 65 and above, physically disabled or special-needs taxpayers, Bangladeshis residing abroad, legal representatives filing on behalf of deceased taxpayers, and foreign nationals working in Bangladesh.
