CHUADANGA — Mohammad Monirul Islam, the newly appointed police superintendent of Chuadanga, held a meeting with district journalists to discuss law and order, border crime and security ahead of the next parliamentary election.
The meeting was held at 3 p.m. in the conference room of the superintendent of police’s office and was chaired by Islam.
The exchange covered the district’s overall law and order, cross-border crime, narcotics control and steps to handle conditions around the 13th parliamentary election, officials said. Police also sought constructive cooperation from journalists.
Reporters at the meeting urged tougher action on narcotics, traffic congestion and crimes such as muggings and robberies. Islam said the police work day and night, noting that Chuadanga has a long border. “During the election, security forces must remain alert so that illegal arms and drugs do not enter through the border,” he said.
“We must respect the law,” Islam said. “Under no circumstances should ordinary citizens be obstructed. The more a nation respects the rule of law, the more developed it becomes.”
Islam sought journalists’ cooperation in providing information to help maintain peace and order in the district.
Also present were Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Operations) Jamal Al Naser, police inspector Atiquzzaman, Chuadanga Press Club president Rajib Hasan Kochi, general secretary Bipul Ashraf, Samayer Samikaron editor in chief Nazmul Haque Swapan, Amar Desh’s Chuadanga correspondent Mofizur Rahman Joarder and other press club members and local journalists.
