BARAIGRAM, Natore — Two students in Natore’s Baraigram upazila have failed two subjects in the technical education board’s SSC examination, even though they each appeared in only one subject. Both the students and their families have expressed astonishment.
The affected students are Arafat Sardar, an examinee in the IT Support and IoT Basics trade at Baraigram Pilot High School, and Sabbir Ahmed, an examinee in the Food Processing trade at Ahmedpur Degree College.
According to sources at the educational institutions concerned, Arafat Sardar took the 2024 SSC exam in the “IT Support and IoT Basics” trade from Baraigram Pilot High School. He took the exam in 15 subjects that year and failed chemistry. He then took the chemistry exam again in the 2025 SSC examination. His admit card listed only chemistry. But the results published on July 10, 2025, showed he had failed agriculture in addition to chemistry. Yet agriculture was not part of his examination at all.
A similar incident occurred with Ahmedpur Degree College student Sabbir Ahmed. He took the 2024 SSC exam in the “Food Processing” trade under the technical education board and failed self-employment. He then sat for only the self-employment subject in the 2025 exam. His admit card listed only that one subject. But the results showed he had also failed agriculture in addition to self-employment.
Sabbir Ahmed said: “I failed one subject, and I retook that subject. Now in the results I see I have failed agriculture too. But agriculture wasn’t even on my admit card.”
