Awami League leader Zillur arrested in Bogura's Dupchanchia in sabotage case

DUPCHANCHIA, Bangladesh — Police have arrested Awami League leader Zillur Rahman, 49, in a sabotage case in Bogura’s Dupchanchia upazila.

He is the son of the late Hasen Ali Akanda of Paschim Alohali village in Dupchanchia upazila.

Dupchanchia police arrested Rahman, president of Ward 9 Awami League, in a raid on Tuesday, Dec. 23.

He is named as an accused in a case over an attack on a procession of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement on Aug. 4, 2024, that included a cocktail blast, as well as in the killing of July uprising martyr Monir.

Dupchanchia police station’s officer-in-charge Afzal Hossain confirmed the arrest and said Rahman had been sent to a Bogura court.
