Tehran has claimed that Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant in the south sustained no damage following recent U.S. strikes, according to various international media citing Iranian officials.
A report by local news agency Mehr News said explosion sounds were heard in the Bushehr area. Reports also circulated that missile debris (shrapnel) fell on the power plant after the strikes. However, Iranian officials rejected these claims, saying the Bushehr nuclear facility sustained no damage of any kind.
The Bushehr nuclear power plant, built with Russian assistance nearly two decades ago, was not a target of the recent U.S.-Israel strikes. Those strikes primarily targeted the Natanz, Fordow and Isfahan nuclear facilities using U.S. B-2 bombers.
Russian technical experts were also on duty at the Bushehr plant during the conflict. According to Tehran’s latest claim, the Bushehr nuclear power plant remains completely safe and has sustained no damage of any kind.
