CHOUGACHHA, Jashore — The Chougachha upazila unit of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami in Jashore held a procession and rally to mobilize support for the party’s July 19 national rally at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan.
The procession set out from the Kamil Madrasa grounds in the town on Wednesday afternoon, July 6. After moving through several streets, it returned to the madrasa grounds for a brief rally.
The procession was led by Maulana Golam Morshed, chief of the Chougachha upazila Jamaat unit. Participants included Maulana Nuruzzaman Al Mamun, secretary of the upazila unit; Master Imdadul Haque, baitulmal secretary; Master Kamal Ahmed, assistant secretary and former panel mayor; Maulana Giyas Uddin; Maulana Abdul Latif, principal of Chougachha Kamil Madrasa and former chairman; Maulana Abdul Khalek, chief of the municipal unit; former councilor Mohiuddin; Abdur Rahman; Hasanuzzaman; and other leaders from the upazila and union units.
At the rally after the procession, speakers called on supporters to attend the Suhrawardy Udyan event to press for free, fair and impartial national elections and the party’s seven-point demand. They also urged voters to back the scales symbol, which they described as a symbol of justice and fairness, in the next national election.
