CHOUGACHHA, Jashore — Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami gave another 1 lakh taka to the family of Al Amin, the only resident of Chougachha killed in the July 2024 uprising, to help build their home.
The money was handed over at Al Amin’s residence at 3 p.m. Thursday.
Abu Jafar Siddiqui, secretary of the Jashore district unit of Jamaat, presented the 1 lakh taka to Al Amin’s father Anwar Hossain Babu on behalf of the district unit’s chief. Earlier, Mia Golam Parwar, the party’s central secretary general, had handed over 2 lakh taka in cash to Anwar Hossain at a Jashore event. Praying that Al Amin may receive the dignity of a martyr, he added: “We have no power to compensate Al Amin’s family. We are with this family only as part of social work, and we will continue to be, God willing.”
The program was conducted by Master Kamal Ahmed, assistant secretary of the upazila Jamaat unit. Maulana Golam Morshed, the upazila Jamaat chief, delivered brief remarks. Others present included Maulana Abdul Khalek, chief of the municipal unit; Master Rahidul Islam Khan and Maulana Giyas Uddin, assistant secretaries of the upazila unit; Sharifuhl Islam, president of the Phulsara union unit; Master Enamul Haque, secretary; labor leader Ahsan Habib; Jiko Khan, president of the Singhajhuli union youth unit; and Abu Bakar Siddique, president of the Singhajhuli union labor wing.
